Praise for Purgatory One

What a great book!

What a great book! Definitely a page turner and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Kelly is an amazing author! The hard part is waiting for book two. Give this book a try and you won’t be disappointed! Two thumbs up👍👍

A gruesome view of humankind's future!

The author's plotline is riveting and driven.  She consistently builds a sense of dread and foreboding as the reason for the experiments and the fate of each subject is revealed.  Her writing is clearly bold and unabashed, and her ending does not disappoint.  "Purgatory One's' characters are anything but stereotypical. They are easy to identify with, endearing in their own way, and each has a unique skill set for dealing with the countless amounts of pain and tragedy Scidmore-Sievers sends their way.  For those with a social conscience and a strong stomach, these characters mirror our own human condition, with each of us being a victim of our own society and culture.  Readers will recognize that only those few who are willing to sacrifice themselves and stand up for any real sort of change will survive "Purgatory One"'s trial, while political and social activists will heed this novel's true message...that even in these times when apathy and indifference toward others runs rampant, this book stands as a warning to take heed of what's going on around us or suffer the consequences.  This story may be too bloody for some, but it stands as a warning for what can happen when people become apathetic, unsympathetic and unwilling to stand up for what's right.  The entire point of this novel is that change is not the onus of our children...it is a responsibility we must set into motion ourselves in order to save our progeny.

Story not what I expected...

When I first starting reading this, my first thought was that it was a knockoff of The Hunger Games, but that quickly changed, as did the mood of the book. I'm not sure what type of audience the book is aimed at (I'm guessing young adult), but I found the story line to be very intriguing. I was also shocked at the quick turn to macabre the story took; it was something I didn't expect but realized it was what made the story. I honestly had a hard time putting it down and am awaiting Part 2.

Charlie Kane the Magic Writer

Wonderful characters and a very engaging story. The writer gives enough character background so you can truly understand the motivation and personality of the main characters and does it in a way as not to distract from the story. She also has made an interesting connection between the real world and Pulchritude Amity. I'm looking forward to seeing how she brings in some of the other members of the Kane family and where the story takes us in the future books in the series. It was a very enjoyable read with just enough light hearted humor thrown in as well. Look forward to reading the next book in the series

Kassie Kane and the Tainted Blood

Three generations of my family are reading the Magic Writer saga, and all of us love it. I read the first book again before I started this one, and enjoyed it a second time, and I liked Kassie's story as much as Charlie's. The books are fun, and exciting, and you don't want to put them down until finished. We are eagerly looking forward to the final book in the series.

Morpheus Kane and the Sloboda Amulet

Great book - great series - definite must read!

Having read the entire series, I feel this book ties everything up very well. Finishing this book was bittersweet for me - I was anxious to know what happened but I didn't want the story to end! So I like that the author ended this book in a way that she can add to the series later - I hope she does that because I don't want to say good-bye to these characters. The author does such a good job bringing her characters to life - I feel like I know them - what a great story teller! There are also some good life lessons the author incorporated into the story. I loved reading these books and would recommend them to all ages!!
